ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Dawn Clarke (She/Her)

Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and Trauma Therapist ACCT # 2048

Welcome!

I am so glad you found me! I hope you get a sense of who I am, how I work, and the services I offer through my website.

The body's ability to self-correct and organize is awe-inspiring. Our systems are remarkably intelligent! Grateful is the word that comes to mind when I consider my part in this ever-expanding field of trauma recovery, well-being, and mental health.

My approach incorporates multiple complementary modalities. This creates a framework to support healing in the various aspects of physical, psychological, emotional, and relational trauma.

Our sessions together are a collaboration of all the training that I have received and practiced over the years. Training that is trauma-informed, rooted in safe embodiment, and is heart-centered and relational.   I feel that there are many avenues in which to support healing and my practice draws deeply on somatic awareness, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, parts work, and modern neuroscience.

Dawn Clarke Therapeutic Sounsellor, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Trauma Therapist

What you will experience in a session with me will be collaboration between the two of us. As your facilitator; I will assist you to discover the untapped resources that lie in the innate wisdom of your own mind, body, and spirit. I will provide you with skills that will develop emerging insights, physiological shifts, and a felt sense that supports ease and expansiveness. Although training and education are important, it is the quality of the relationship that will create the conditions for healing to commence.

In our first session together, along with gathering information, I will invite you to experiment with various gentle practices to build the foundational skills of regulation and containment, which will be the springboard to support the work we do together.

The intensity of trauma-related material and complex emotions can easily hijack our ability to be in the here and now. With your permission, I will gently guide you to slow things down so you can explore a pace that your system can express or metabolize this tender material.

As the capacity to experience more nuanced sensations such as stability or expansiveness builds, the lens in which we see ourselves, and our difficulties begin to shift.  This is sacred territory we are uncovering
